PQA Plus Certification
January 18, 2017 @ 2:00 pm - 5:00 pm
UW-Extension will be hosting a Pork Quality Assurance certification class Wednesday January 18th, 2017, 2:00 PM, at the Ag Service & Education Center in Baldwin. We expect this training to be 2 to 2.5 hours long. Those who certified in 2014 will be asked to re-certify again in 2017. Historically we’ve held this training over the summer, but due to schedule changes we’re asking producers to certify this January. Thus, you may have not yet received notice from the National Pork Board for re-certification due to our schedule change.
For those re-certifying (not applicable to new or lapsed certifications) online certification is a new option. Please contact me if you are interested to set up an account for you.
Dr. Gary Onan, UW-River Falls, will be our guest speaker discussing herd health and biosecurity. Dr. Onan is chair of the Department of Animal Science at UW-RF, and teaches courses on swine management, sheep management, and animal physiology. Dr. Onan is also known throughout Wisconsin as a livestock and carcass show judge.
There is an open book exam required to certify. There is no fee for this program, but your pre-registration greatly helps us in planning.
To pre-register please contact the St. Croix County Extension office at 715.531.1930 or email ryan.sterry@ces.uwex.edu.
