Chefs Invited to Enter Taste of Elegance

The Wisconsin Pork Association is making plans for the 29th annual Wisconsin’s Taste of Elegance competition and invites chefs throughout the state to enter. Up to eight chefs will be selected to compete for $2000 in cash prizes, plus the top chef will receive an expense-paid trip to the Culinary Institute of America’s Greystone Campus in St. Helena, California. This exciting culinary event will take place on Thursday, February 2, 2017 at the Kalahari Resort and Convention Center in Wisconsin Dells.

The Taste of Elegance competition is open to all chefs employed at a Wisconsin foodservice establishment. The purpose of the event is to encourage innovative and exciting ways to menu pork. Chefs selected to participate in the contest will prepare their creative pork entrée for a panel of judges, as well as provide samples and showcase their restaurant or business during an evening reception for Pork/Corn/Soy Expo attendees. In addition to pork being the feature of the entrées, chefs are encouraged to include a soy accompaniment (excluding soy sauce) to be eligible for the $250 Best Use of Soy award.

To apply, chefs can visit www.wppa.org/taste-of-elegance to download a copy of the contest rules and application form. Chefs can also call the WPA office at 608-723-7551 or email mmasters@wppa.org with any questions or to have a copy of the application form mailed to them. Chefs will be asked to complete the application form and submit a copy of their pork recipe and personal resume. Chefs will be notified at least 3 weeks prior to event whether they have been selected to compete. The application deadline is December 1, 2016.
