Open 17th Senate District Seat

In addition to the incumbent nominations, the Wisconsin Pork Association is endorsing Howard Marklein for the open 17th Senate District seat.  Marklein has represented the 51st Assembly District from 2010-2014.  He has an appreciation for and understands agriculture, having been raised on a dairy farm in rural Spring Green.  Marklein has advocated for pork producers on the inclusion of pork on menus in Wisconsin’s correctional facilities by meeting with numerous officials to remedy the issues impeding their ability to do so.  Representative Marklein is a frequent visitor to ag events both in his district and the state.  He continues to support issues that are important to pork producers and Wisconsin agriculture.  Representative Marklein  received WPA’s Distinguished Service award in 2013.

The Wisconsin Pork Association’s mission is to insure the future success of the Wisconsin pork industry.  WPA represents the interests of the pork industry members with a strong emphasis on social issues, public and government policies, environment, animal welfare and safety.
